Which card do you hold?
Your card determines how much of each treatment is subsidised. Pioneer and Merdeka Generation cards are issued automatically to eligible seniors; CHAS Blue and Orange are means-tested.

Household monthly income per person of $1,500 and below, or — for households with no income — a home with an Annual Value of $21,000 and below.

For treatments that span several visits — dentures, crowns and root canal treatment — CHAS subsidies can only be claimed once the procedure is completed.
CHAS also covers x-rays (up to 6 per calendar year), topical fluoride (up to 2 per calendar year), re-cementation (up to 2 per calendar year).

Using Medisave for dental surgery
CHAS subsidises everyday treatment; Medisave pays for surgery. Between them, most of the big-ticket dentistry our patients need is covered.
Wisdom tooth surgery
The surgical fee is payable using Medisave — $650 to $1,420 for a single tooth, $1,850 to $2,150 for one side, or $2,900 for all four.

How do I use my CHAS card at Smile Central?+
Present your CHAS, Pioneer Generation or Merdeka Generation card together with your NRIC at registration. The subsidy is applied directly to eligible treatments — no paperwork needed from you.
How much does CHAS pay for scaling and polishing?+
Per CHAS, scaling is subsidised at $30.00 for CHAS Blue, $20.00 for Orange, $35.00 for Merdeka Generation and $40.00 for Pioneer Generation, with polishing subsidised separately. Both are claimable up to twice per calendar year.
How many times a year can I claim CHAS for dental treatment?+
CHAS sets a quota per calendar year: up to 2 consultations (6 months apart), 2 scaling and 2 polishing, 6 fillings, 4 extractions, 2 root canal treatments, 4 permanent crowns and 6 X-rays. Dentures are limited to 1 upper and 1 lower every 3 calendar years.
What dental procedures can I claim with Medisave?+
Medisave covers surgical procedures — wisdom tooth surgery and dental implants are the common ones. At Smile Central the wisdom tooth surgical fee is payable using Medisave, and eligible Neodent implant cases can be 100% Medisave-payable.
Can I combine CHAS subsidies and Medisave?+
They apply to different things — CHAS subsidises routine treatments, while Medisave covers surgical procedures. Our front desk will work out the right combination for your treatment plan and handle the claims paperwork.
Do all Smile Central branches accept CHAS?+
Yes — all 8 clinics are CHAS clinics, and all can process Medisave claims for eligible surgical procedures.
