Primary dental care is the everyday work: the check-up that catches a cavity while it's still small, the scaling that keeps gums healthy, the filling, the extraction, the crown that saves a heavily-repaired tooth. It's the least dramatic dentistry we do and by far the most valuable.
We see patients of all ages, and we recommend children have their first visit around their first birthday. Our teams are used to helping little ones — and nervous adults — feel at ease in the chair.
Scaling and polishing
Even careful brushing leaves hardened plaque that only a dentist can remove. Scaling clears that build-up above and below the gumline, and polishing smooths the surface so plaque takes longer to return.
Most patients come every six months. CHAS cardholders pay a subsidised rate — bring your card and NRIC.
Fillings, extractions and crowns
A simple filling restores a small cavity in one visit. A complex filling rebuilds more of the tooth — more surfaces, more shaping, more time in the chair — which is why the two are priced differently.
When a tooth can't be saved, extraction is priced by position: front teeth (anterior) are more straightforward than back teeth (posterior), which have multiple roots. And when a tooth is heavily filled or root-treated, a permanent crown caps and protects what's left of it.

How much is a dental check-up in Singapore?+
A consultation at Smile Central is $21–$31 excluding GST, and scaling and polishing is $61–$98. CHAS, Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation cardholders pay subsidised rates on eligible treatments.
How much does a filling cost?+
A simple filling is $65–$160 and a complex filling is $80–$180, excluding GST. The difference is how much of the tooth needs rebuilding — your dentist will tell you which yours needs, and what it will cost, before starting.
How often should I get scaling and polishing?+
Every six months suits most people. Scaling removes hardened plaque that brushing can't shift, which is what protects you from gum disease and the expensive problems that follow it.
When should my child first see a dentist?+
Around their first birthday, or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are quick and friendly, and help your child get comfortable with the dentist.
Is dental treatment safe during pregnancy?+
Yes — routine care like check-ups, scaling and necessary fillings is safe during pregnancy. Just let our team know you're pregnant so the dentist can plan your care appropriately.
What should I do about a knocked-out tooth?+
Act fast: hold the tooth by the crown (not the root), keep it moist in milk or your cheek, and get to a dentist within 30–60 minutes. Call us at 6743 1711 and we'll prioritise you.
